A Museum of Life
A Museum of Life is a documentary film, which for over three years will document the making a Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw, Poland, ‘more then a memorial’ as it was stated by the New York Times article in 2003. To ensure its quality and the future television broadcasting and theatrical release, this feature documentary will be shot in high definition (HDCAM), the best digital video format available as today.
Through interviews with the museums souls and makers such as Jerzy Halbersztadt, Museums staff representatives, Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett, Marian Turski, presidents of Poland: Aleksander Kwasniewski and Lech Kaczynski, Rainer Mahlamaki and a representative from the Event Communication - the core story of the concept and creation of the museum will be established. Through several years the camera will follow researchers working on the documentation of visual images in several countries. Museum’s various initiatives such as Student Exchange Program and others will be part of this film as well. Some scenes would include: individuals bringing items from their private donation such as personal artifacts, photos, and memoirs, important meetings of the museum’s staff, the groundbreaking ceremony of the museum and its construction and of course the museum opening will be part of the film.
The producer intends to have A Museum of Life shown to a national audience, through airing on PBS stations in the U.S during prime-time hours, and through distribution to movie theatres, film festivals, cable television, and international channels including Polish TV1. The 90-minute film will also be available to various civic institutions and school and university libraries on DVD. Through Slawomir Grunberg’s affiliated company, LOGTV, an interactive website will be established. This website will allow visitors to view excerpts of A Museum of Life in streaming media format, read personal stories related to the film, and through educational guides, learn of the full range of historical and political facts related to this story.
